Daily 5

In week 2 we relaunched the Daily 5 literacy program in the classroom where the students choose to complete activities in five areas, read to self, read to someone, listen to reading, work on writing and word work.  The students are really enjoying our Daily 5 sessions with many writing amazing stories for work on writing and for word work, our most popular area, they are engaged in fun ways to work with words such as stamping them, using stencils to spell them or making them out of play doh.  All areas are just as important as each other so while the students have a choice in their activities they are also monitored to ensure they participate in all 5 areas across the week to provide them with a balanced literacy program that works along side our spelling program, Words their Way.
